Evan C. Barrett, Financial Consultant

Retirement Planning Specialist

"I'm a life advisor who specializes in money."

I am your advocate.  I strive to make you financially healthy so that you may focus on your life.  My aim is to empower you to make informed decisions and take effective action toward meeting your goals.  With our experience and education, my team can offer direction for both personal and business planning needs.  You can receive professional guidance in a way that fits easily into your lifestyle.

I often say that my goal is not to make a client rich.  Rather, it is to build wealth while controlling your exposure to life's risks.  The goal is to provide you the money you need when you need it throughout your life, while providing flexibility for when "life throws us a curveball."

Money is emotional.  Unfortunately, those emotions often lead to poor decisions.  Once a plan is implemented, my job is to keep you on-track, even when your emotions are tugging in a different direction.

The Process:  individually tailored & holistic

  1. Through one-on-one meetings, we'll clarify your values, needs, and aspirations, and your financial requirements for each.
  2. We'll discuss suitable strategies designed to help you meet your short - and long-term needs.
  3. Once a course of action is agreed upon, I'll direct the plan implimentation with the appropriate financial tools and services.
  4. No planning process is complete without proper monitoring, both of the financial tools themselves, and of your life as it changes.

Finding a Good Time to Invest

When a prominent stock market index closes above an important threshold, many investors who have been sitting on the sidelines may see it as good time to invest, but they may have missed a significant part of the rally. Waiting for the "right" moment to invest could prove to be a costly and ineffective strategy.

Be Ready for a Change in Interest Rates

Fluctuating interest rates can be challenging for bond investors who want to reinvest their principal. When rates are low, they may have to accept lower yields; when rates rise when principal is tied up, they may not be able to benefit. One strategy to help manage reinvestment risk is to build a bond ladder.

Variable Annuities and Your Retirement Strategy

An insurance product may appeal to pre-retirees who want to invest more of their current incomes for retirement and defer taxes on market gains. A variable annuity enables investors to pursue investment gains with the option to purchase guarantees (for an additional cost) to help protect against the downside risks of investing in the markets.

What Kind of Investor Are You?

Although most Americans seem to understand that investment involves risk, there is a wide spectrum in how much risk each investor is willing to assume. Among the factors to consider are comfort level, time horizon, and net worth. This article helps investors to consider their appropriate level of risk.
